The purpose of air & gas purging and dosing
One of the most traditional application for Kytola variable area flow meters is low flow purging or dosing of air or other gases. Kytola VA flow meters are perfect choice for this purpose because they offer clear visual indication of the flowrate and accurate flow rate adjustment with needle valve.
VA flow meters don’t require external power for operating so they are versatile what comes to installation and usage. Kytola know how for sizing the exact individual flow meter according to process parameters is essential to ensure gas flow meters proper and accurate function.
Most common applications within industries
Air or gas purging can be used for example in following applications:
- Instrument air purge – clean air or N2 is constantly purged in low flow for instruments or optics and electronic cabins. Purpose is to maintain uninterrupted and correct function of instruments and clear visibility of optical devices. Also in sealed electronical cabinets the electronics is cooled by venting the cabin with constat air flow.
- Gas flow dosing in emission analyzers – In CEMS (Continuous emissions monitoring systems) various sample gases (O2, So2, Nox) are analyzed. Flow meters are used to set the optimal flow of these sample gases to be analyzed. Also calibration/span/zero has their own lines where the air flow needs to be set accordingly. Using Kytola VA flow meters adjusting the different flow lines is easy with needle valve and instant visual readout.
- Protective/blanket gas dosing – Inert gases like nitrogen or argon is used in processes like heat treatment furnaces or welding to prevent oxidation. VA flow meters offers robust structure and easy adjusting of required flow. Also low flow alarms are possible for remote monitoring of these processes.
- Oxygen or air dosing in RAS systems in aquaculture – In fish farms air or O2 is dosed to water in order to maintain healthy environment for fish to grow. VA flow meters are used in gas distribution panels to deliver the right amount of these gases to water tanks.
- Final product dosing in O2, O3 and N2 generators – In oxygen, ozone or nitrogen generators VA flow meters are used to dose the final product in further to the process where gas is used. Kytola VA flow meters offer customized scales according to gas and its process parameters. In O2 measurement the flow meters parts are cleaned for safe usage of O2.
