Uncompromising quality

Kytola flow meters are known for built-in quality. After long experience in various critical industrial processes we understand the need for long lasting flow meter you can trust.

The purpose of cooling and flush water

Various mechanical processes which generate friction and heat needs to be cooled or flushed with water or other fluid.

It is essential to optimize the flow to adequate level to ensure lubrication and heat removal but also make sure not to waste energy and fresh water.

Flow meter for this job needs to carry the demands of enviromental requirement as well as the measured media. Variable area flow meters offers robust structure and vast selection of materials and fittings for different measured medias and pipe connections.

Most common applications within industries

Cooling and flush water flow measurement can be used for example in following applications:

  • Cooling and flush water for mechanical seals.Mechanical seals in pumps, refiners, suction rolls, and other process equipment require a constant flow of flush water to ensure reliable operation. Kytola variable area flow meters are an excellent choice for these applications thanks to their robust construction and wide selection of materials and flow ranges for different process conditions. In applications where backpressure varies, such as flush water measurement in disc mills, constant flow regulators can be added to maintain stable and accurate flow.
  • Drill hole flushing in underground mining equipment. In underground drilling equipment, operators must carefully control drill hole flush water to provide sufficient lubrication and protect the drill from damage. Kytola variable area flow meters offer a reliable and easy-to-use solution for these demanding environments. Their durable design and integrated adjusting valve enable accurate flow control even in harsh mining conditions.
  • Demineralized cooling water flow measurement. Demineralized (DM) water, with dissolved ions removed, is widely used in applications where clean and non-conductive cooling water is required. It is commonly used in power electronics, high-voltage components, and semiconductor manufacturing. In the energy and power generation industry, DM water is used for boiler feedwater, heat exchangers, and turbine cooling to improve efficiency while reducing the risk of corrosion and contamination.

Kytola Smart variable area flow meters with 4-20 mA for low conductivity liquids

Reliable flow measurement for low-conductivity cooling water

In modern cooling systems, especially those using deionized or ultra-low conductivity water, traditional electromagnetic flow meters can struggle or fail completely. When liquid conductivity falls below the operating range of a magnetic flow meter, flow measurement may become unstable, inaccurate, or even impossible.

Because the Kytola V Smart variable area flow meter is based on the variable area (VA) measurement principle, its performance is not affected by liquid conductivity. This makes it an ideal solution for cooling circuits using demineralized water in applications such as power generation, electronics cooling, data centers, and industrial process equipment.
