Differential pressure transmitters are widely used for flow measurement in pulp mills. The sensing lines are vulnerable for clogging that would result in false measurement result. Therefor it’s essential to guarantee steady purge of water or air with exactly similar flowrate for both sensing lines. In this process there can be variation in the back pressure and constant flow regulator needs to be used accompany with the variable area flowmeter to ensure steady flowrate for both sensing lines
Variable area flowmeter is commonly used in CEMS skids for flow measurement of carrier, purge or calibration gases. Simple VA flowmeter provides clear visual indication that gases are flowing within their desired flow rates
In biomass boilers hot ash is removed by using ash screws and bottom ash conveyor. Hot ash must be cooled down before downstream handling. Mixture of glycol and water is used to cool the shaft and casing of the ash screw as well as the shaft of the conveyor. Variable area flow meters are used to ensure optimal flowrate of the cooling water for proper heat transfer of the ash.
